Introducing Who Sez Soundbites
Simply put, Who Sez is a compilation of soundbites (where soundbites can be quotations, slogans, snippets, headlines, or memorable and concise statements of any type).
Who Sez is different from ordinary quotation collectios because it not only lists the soundbite and its author, but it also provides a link through to supporting information about the soundbite (such as the source material of the soundbite, the biography of the author, etc.).
How many Soundbites you have depends on your membership level.
- When you join Pro Speaker You as a Rising Star, you have one Soundbite available to you.
- When you join Pro Speaker You as a Pro, you have 7 Soundbites available to you.
- When you join Pro Speaker You as a Rock Star, you have 20 Soundbites available to you!
How to Create Your Soundbite
Creating your Soundbite is easy. Just go to the Center Stage page (logging in first, if necessary) and click on the Manage Your Soundbites link.
You will then be shown the list of all of the Soundbites (if any) that you’ve already created.
To create a new Soundbite, simply click the Add Soundbite button at the top of the list. You will then be shown the WordPress editing page.
(Note: the following steps do not need to be done in this order, but you need to do them all to get your Soundbite to look right. The numbers are simply a convenience.)
[1]
Enter the author of the soundbite as the “Title”. (This is probably you, but we allow for the possibility that you’re quoting someone else.)
[2]
Next, look on the right side for the “Settings” area. (If the “Settings” area isn’t visible, just click the settings button at the top-right of the page.) Enter your soundbite (quotation, snippet, or soundbite) in the “Excerpt” field.
[3]
In the same Settings area, enter a headshot of the author (probably you) as the “Featured Image”. You can an image already in your personal library, or you can upload an image to your library. Note: squarish images display best. Also note: although we attempt to optimize images for you, uploading overly large images will slow down the display of your Soundbite. Try to keep your images relatively small.
[4]
Create the supporting information in the space below “Title” using the WordPress block editor. The supporting information can be a bio of the utterer of the soundbite, the resource that the soundbite is a part of, or lots of other things This is your opportunity to turn someone liking your soundbite into a potential client!
WordPress is one of the most powerful, popular, and customizable platforms in the world, so there’s a chance that you’re already familiar with it. If you need help using the block editor, you might try WordPress’ tutorial at https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/wordpress-block-editor/ .
[5]
Finally, be sure to publish your new Soundbite.
[6]
After you’ve published your Soundbite, click the Pro Speaker You button in the upper left corner of this page to return to the list of all your Soundbites.
How to Edit a Soundbite
Editing an existing Soundbite is straightforward. Simply go to the Center Stage, and then go to Manage Your Soundbites (just like you did to create the Soundbite). But this time, click “edit” on the particular Soundbite that you want to edit.
This will take you to the WordPress editing screen, where you can perform whatever edits you want.
When you’re done, be sure to SAVE your edited Soundbite. And then click the Pro Speaker You button in the upper left corner of the page to return to the list of all your Soundbites.
Deleting a Soundbite
Deleting a Soundbite is easy. Just go to Center Stage and then Manage Your Soundbites. On the Soundbite that you want to get rid of, just click “delete”.
Deleting a Soundbite is easy, but do you really want to do it? You’ll lose any SEO “links” that your page might have accumulated, so you might want to consider replacing everything in your unwanted Soundbite instead of actually deleting it. Just a thought – your call.
If you do decide to delete a Soundbite, please note that it isn’t gone permanently – it’s been moved to the trash. This has a couple of consequences – one, you can recover your Soundbite if you change your mind about getting rid of it. But more importantly, the maximum number of Soundbites that your membership level allows you is based on the sum of your all your Soundbites including the “trashed” ones.
To restore or permanently remove a trashed Soundbite, simply go to the list of your untrashed Soundbites and click on the “Trash” link. This will now display your trashed One Sheets (if any); restore or delete (permanently) them as you wish.
